Repaired MV Jing Fan 1 Leaves CIC Lixin Shipyard

China Shipping Industry Co., Ltd. Lixin Shipyard recently completed the repair of MV Jing Fan 1 which entered the shipyard in late August, mainly for the repair of ship’s bow and bulbous bow. Heavily damaged ship needed new bulbous bow, 6.15m high and 2.5m wide.

Immediately after acquiring the knowledge of this job, the hull department arranged resourceful man power. The technique department scientifically arranged the whole set of working specification, the workshop technical team prepared the computer design and lofting, the management team in charge of schedule control and safety.

Each department cooperated closely and placed each person in specified position with their own responsibilities. The fabrication team commenced job on 8th of September. In the mean time, ship’s damaged part of bow was cut. All preparations were in place and forward repair job commenced on 9th of September. All the working teams, all kinds of workers cooperated together, grid fabrication, plasma cutting, frame fitting, taking sample, forward pillar fabrication and side plate, etc. of each job proceeded smoothly.

Through their endeavor for six days and five nights, the bulbous bow was completed on 13th of September and ready for fitting. By 16th, bow partial repair and bulbous bow replacement were both completed and approved by owner’s representative and attending surveyor, and the ship undocked.
