CIMPS – Europort: China International Marine, Port & Shipbuilding Fair Starts Today

CIMPS-Europort - China International Marine, Port & Shipbuilding Fair Starts Today

CIMPS-Europort invites you to join the fair in the beating heart of the largest shipbuilding country in the world. Nanjing, on the banks of the Yangtze River, known throughout China as the Golden Waterway, is the hub of the No.1 shipbuilding area of China. The Yangtze River Delta is the economic engine in China. This has been especially noticeable in the shipbuilding industry where the total import during 2010 reached USD 217 million, one quarter of the total Chinese import.

Over 80 big shipyards in the Jiangsu province alone are rapidly developing and the need for import is increasing daily. Add to this that the Jiangsu Coastal Campaign has become a national strategy for China as a whole and you will find that demand for your products might increase drastically in the time to come.

Special purpose ships & advanced technology

Jiangsu’s shipbuilding industry accounts for 35-40% of all shipbuilding in the entire country (15.3% of the world’s output) but is not exclusively known for the high output. The area is also renowned for its development towards a region where evermore technologically advanced vessels are being produced. Something the rest of the Chinese regions are still not ready for. There is a higher focus on more specialized ships here than anywhere else in China and yards are busy building dredging and construction vessels amongst others. Jiangsu is known far and wide to be an area of high technological degree and its universities have added to this level of knowledge.

The fact that the Jiangsu area is such a frontrunner in the Chinese shipbuilding industry provides a lot of opportunities for international suppliers of maritime equipment as there is a consistently high demand for these products. The local manufacturers can not meet the needs of the yards, which leads to chances for international suppliers and innovators.
