Civmec Nets Subsea Contracts for Prelude and Wheatstone LNG Projects

Civmec Limited secured contracts in the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) sector with the awards of projects for the Shell Prelude Floating LNG project and the Wheatstone LNG project.

Civmec has been awarded a master service order contract by Technip in Australia for the supply, fabrication and testing of subsea components for Shell’s Prelude Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) development.

The initial award includes the following components associated with Technip’s installation activities implemented for Shell’s Prelude FLNG:

– 8 buckle triggers,
– 4 suction piles.

Civmec CEO Pat Tallon said, “This is a very exciting project and we are pleased to be involved in the world’s first FLNG project. This award further demonstrates our capability to execute projects for the Oil and Gas sector.”

Civmec has also been awarded a contract by Technip in Australia for the fabrication and testing of 68 subsea jumper spools for the Chevron-operated Wheatstone Project. This contract consists of the fabrication of pipe spools of various materials such as CRA Inconel clad pipe, Super Duplex and carbon steel with pipe sizes ranging from 6 inch up to 44 inch in diameter. Work on weld procedures will commence immediately with fabrication expected to start later this year.

Mr Tallon said, “We are pleased to be involved in this exciting project. Given that we are currently completing works for Technip, this is seen by us as a good indicator of their satisfaction with our service and also further demonstrates our ability to win repeat work in the Oil and Gas sector from our existing client base.”

Civmec is currently expanding its existing subsea capabilities by undertaking the construction of a specialised subsea facility for exotic materials at its waterfront facility located in Henderson, Western Australia. The expansion is part of the strategy to increase cross-disciplinary capabilities to provide end-to-end solutions and enhance its position as a preferred heavy engineering specialist in Western Australia and Northern Territory. It will continue to seek such opportunities in the oil and gas industry, which it has identified as a potential sector of growth.
