Clipper Transports Windmills to Musselroe Wind Park in Tasmania

On three voyages during the fourth quarter of 2012, Clipper Projects shipped 56 wind turbines for Vestas Wind Systems to the Musselroe Wind Park in northern Tasmania, Australia.

The V90 turbines were shipped on Clipper Makiri (17,000 dwt), Clipper Magdalena (17,000 dwt) and Clipper Alba (12,000 dwt), loaded in Europe and Asia and discharged in Bell Bay, Tasmania.

A detailed planning and careful preparation was essential in order to meet the demanding supply chain logistics in Tasmania as well as complying with the shipping requirements stipulated by Vestas Wind Systems.

“Vestas is pleased to have completed a successful project with Clipper Projects. Ocean transportation is a critical part of the wind energy supply chain, and Clipper has shown they are willing to adapt to our expectations,” says Derek Bushaw, Transport Director at Vestas.

The windmill industry is a key sector for Clipper Projects, whose multipurpose vessels are perfectly fitted for this kind of transportation.
