Corpower completes final testing phase

The final phase of testing the Corpower WEC (wave energy conversion) technology is now completed and the project can now focus on full scale deployment activities.

The project aims to industrialize a wave energy converter with five times higher energy density compared to existing technologies.

The full scale prototype of the buoy is expected to be completed in 2016, according to KIC InnoEnergy.

It will be manufactured in glass fiber or steel, and is expected to measure 8 meters in diameter and weigh close to 60 tons.

Corpower WEC technology is a part of HiWave project that involves consortium of Corpower, Iberdrola and WavEC.
