CSBC Signs Boxship Pair

Taiwanese shipbuilder CSBC Corporation has signed a contract with Singapore shipowner Iseaco Holdings for the construction of two 1,800 teu containerships.

The shipbuilder announced in a sec filing to the Taiwan Stock Exchange two days ago that it had struck a $50 million deal for two boxships.

Both vessels will be equipped with an advanced global positioning system for navigation to improve safety and with energy efficient equipment to lower pollution and meet global environmental protection requirements.

The two newbuilds, for Iseaco’s YL Singapore Shipping and YL Colombo Shipping, are scheduled for delivery in early 2016.
