Curtis Island workers say yes to new proposal by Bechtel

Union workers protesting on the Curtis Island LNG projects approved a labor agreement proposed by Bechtel with a 54% voters saying yes.

Bechtel made a statement today saying the new revised offer included a 13% increase in pay and extra daily allowances, reports Bloomberg.

Dispute with the unions put the LNG projects on Curtis Island at risk of being delayed with BG Group, Santos GLNG and ConocoPhillips, all breathing a sigh of relief following the results of the vote.

Bechtel also said everyone can continue with the regular working routines as a result of about 3,700 workers voting in favor of the agreement.  About 3,120 voted against the proposal, while some 1300 workers did not vote at all.
