DeepOcean trains engineers for subsea industry career

DeepOcean UK, a subsidiary of DeepOcean Group Holding BV, has announced the continuation of their successful conversion programme for Subsea Project Engineers, with a further intake in October 2014.

In 2013, to support their recruitment strategy, DeepOcean UK identified an opportunity to attract highly competent and experienced Engineers from other industry sectors, and provide them with the skills required for a successful career in the subsea industry. This programme complements its on-going Junior Equipment Technician and Graduate Development Programmes, highlighting DeepOcean’s continued commitment to training and development.

The Conversion Programme aims to attract high calibre Engineers who are looking for a new challenge in a project delivery focused environment, with highly competitive current and prospective subsea industry salaries in an exciting and dynamic sector. The roles will be primarily based from DeepOceans Darlington office, with international travel opportunities to visit clients and oversee the offshore execution phase of the projects. DeepOcean has continued to evolve the intensive development programme, providing a solid foundation for a career in the subsea industry. In October 2014, DeepOcean will see a further intake of engineers trained and deployed onto DeepOceans live projects by November. From November they will work closely with experienced DeepOcean Project Teams who will continue to mentor the conversion process over the subsequent months.

Anne Yare, HR Director for DeepOcean UK commented, “The initial training programme involves both internal and external courses from industry experts, covering all relevant aspects of the subsea industry along with essential Health and Safety knowledge that will be required for a successful career in the subsea sector. Our programme includes courses covering offshore/subsea installation engineering techniques, subsea ROV operating principals along with cable burial and trenching operations. DeepOcean believes these programmes represent an excellent platform for a career in the subsea industry. The North East of England has a history of engineering talent and we are keen to maintain this.”

Engineers are required with transferable engineering experience (typically mechanical/civil backgrounds but all considered), from industries operating with similar core principles such as manufacturing, construction, aerospace, automotive, armed forces, petrochemicals and the nuclear sector. DeepOcean believes that these Engineers they will bring a wealth of generic engineering skills and experience into the company and that by supplementing this with industry specific knowledge through the conversion programme, will provide the perfect platform to complement and expand on the current talent pool at DeepOcean, as well as providing a successful career in Energy for the individuals.

DeepOcean recently announced a number of significant new contracts and asset investments and believes that this new intake of Engineers will support its growth plans over the next few years. This in turn will subsequently also provide the Conversion Engineers with a range of diverse career progression opportunities within the company over this period and beyond.
