Denmark: Sea Installer, Sea Jack Complete Their Work at Anholt WF

Sea Installer, Sea Jack Complete Their Work at Anholt WF

More favourable weather conditions and less waves have really jump-started the wind turbine installation in Anholt Offshore Wind Farm. At the end of April, a total of 97 wind turbines had been installed in the wind farm. Now, only 14 wind turbines need to be installed before all 111 wind turbines have been installed.

Of the 97 installed wind turbines, the installation vessel Sea Power has so far installed 39 wind turbines, and Sea Worker has installed 31 wind turbines. The installation vessels Sea Installer and Sea Jack installed 14 and 13 wind turbines, respectively, and have now left for other projects.

The better weather conditions have resulted in long consecutive working periods for the installation vessels. Around the turn of the month March/April, the vessels succeeded in installing 20 wind turbines in only two weeks; therefore, it will be realistic to complete the installation of all the wind turbines in May.

All components for the rest of the wind turbines have been supplied to Siemens’ pre-assembly site at Grenaa Harbour, and DONG is in the countdown – but as always, the weather is decisive.

Anholt Wind Farm Near Completion 23

Sea Installer managed to complete the installation of its 14th wind turbine in Anholt Offshore Wind Farm, wind turbine A19, on 4 April at 03:30 in the morning before heading for one of DONG Energy’s other offshore projects, West of Duddon Sands, in the Irish Sea.

Even though Sea Installer is still at commissioning, it managed to install 14 wind turbines in the approximately 40 days in which it performed in Anholt Offshore Wind Farm. At the same time, Sea Installer demonstrated that it is technically possible to optimise the wind turbine installation. Consequently, Sea Installer managed to demonstrate complete tower installation where the tower is lifted into position in one lifting operation instead of two lifting operations as up to now.

Fully operational, Sea Installer will be able to carry eight complete wind turbines of the size used in Anholt Offshore Wind Farm.

At the end of April, 59 wind turbines had been connected to the grid. It corresponds to a total capacity of 212.4MW, and the capacity in Anholt Offshore Wind Farm thus exceeds the capacity of Horns Rev 2 of 209MW. This makes Anholt Offshore Wind Farm the largest offshore wind farm in Denmark.
