DFDS Closes Terminal in Esbjerg
- Business & Finance
Danish shipping and logistics company DFDS has decided to close its current terminal in Esbjerg, Denmark.
As informed, the facility will be closed with effect from December 21, 2017.
The move is “in line with DFDS’ continuous pursuit of operational improvements and efficiencies”, the company said.
The Esbjerg port operation services DFDS’ freight route between Esbjerg and Immingham, England. Port terminal services will be instead provided by Blue Water Shipping in another part of the Esbjerg port terminal, according to the company.
“As freight ships have become larger carrying increasingly standardised freight units and the passenger traffic from Esbjerg was closed in 2014, the current terminal operation in Esbjerg is no longer competitive,” DFDS explained.
“Moreover, the facilities and location of Blue Water Shipping’s terminal will enhance customer service and operational efficiency,” the company added.
