Disabled SCF Tanker Towed Back to Le Havre

SCF-owned oil tanker Olympiyskiy Prospect was towed to Le Havre port, France after becoming disabled at sea on Monday, December 8th some 26 nautical miles northwest of Fecamp.

The Liberian-flagged ship got disabled having experiences rudder damage while at sea, French maritime authority Premar reported. Despite various attempts to repair the rudder the crew was not successful and had to call for assistance.

The incident was reported to Regional Operational Centres for Monitoring and Rescue (CROSS) in Jobourg.

The towing operation was launched on Tuesday with Bourbon Maritime’s subsidiary Les Abeilles, in charge of the task.

Tow vessel Abeille Liberte was selected for the task.

The ship had left the port of Le Havre on Monday morning heading for Russia.
