DSME Achieves Two Million Safe Working Hours

Recently, Hull No. 3403 and 3404, the pipe laying vessels ordered by Technip and Odebrecht Oil & Gas, achieved two million safe working hours. The number of safe working hours is calculated from the beginning of the project. To celebrate the achievement of two million safe man-hours, the owners gave 900 hand lanterns to the Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) employees working on these projects.

Mr. Peter Mackenzie, the site manager of TOP project said, “This achievement is the result of the team work between TOP project members and DSME employees. Thank you to all of the members working on this project. I hope that we can continue this remarkable achievement.”

Technip and OOG formed a JV project team, Technip (50%) and Odebrecht Oil & Gas (OOG, 50%) that is managing the construction of the vessels at the shipyard. Characterized by their high pipelay tension capacity of 550 tonnes, the twin vessels will be employed principally to install umbilical and flexible flowlines and risers to connect subsea wells to floating production units in waters up to over 2,500 m deep offshore Brazil, including in the pre-salt area.

The provision of installation engineering services is included in a JV´s scope.
