Kenz Cranes Delivers 120t Ram Luffing Pedestal Crane for Jascon 55

On April 23rd, Kenz Cranes, a well-known specialist in offshore lifting and hoisting solutions, successfully completed the load testing of the new build 120t ram luffing pedestal crane.

The load test was the final step before the crane was handed over to the client Sea Trucks Group (STG). The crane will be installed onboard the newly build DP-2 construction support vessel ‘Jascon 55’ within the next months.

The 120t pedestal crane is custom-designed and will be used for offshore construction and subsea installation work up to a water depth of 1,800m. The crane is equipped with Active Heave Compensation (AHC) and a redundant power pack.

The installation and load testing took place at the Kenz Figee Group construction quay in Zaandam. The Netherlands-based Kenz Cranes has scheduled to supply another new build 12t ram luffing pedestal crane to be installed onboard the same vessel in June this year. This auxiliary crane is also designed to work at a water depth of 1,800m and equipped with AHC as well.

The ‘Jascon 55’ will be used for the installation of pipeline spool pieces, umbilicals and modules, inspections services and drilling support services. The vessel primarily will be operating in the North Atlantic Ocean near West-Africa.
