Enagas Buys 40 Percent in GNL Quintero

Enagás of Spain said it has signed an agreement to acquire the BG Group’s 40% shareholding in the GNL Quintero regasification plant in Chile.

The acquisition, which is pending all the required authorisations, will take place in two tranches, each amounting to €136Mn. Enagás expects to complete the second tranche of the deal in conjunction with a partner, leaving Enagás with ownership of 51% of this 40% stake and the other partner in control of the remaining 49%.

The GNL Quintero plant’s other shareholders are ENAP (Empresa Nacional de Petróleo de Chile, with 20%), Endesa Chile (with 20%) and Metrogas (Chile’s largest gas distributor, with 20%).

The regasification plant is located in Quintero Bay in Chile. On stream since 2011, it has a total storage capacity of approximately 330,000 m3 and a total regasification capacity of approximately 3.4 bcm/year.
