EnBW Appoints North America Managing Director

German offshore wind developer EnBW has hired Bill White to serve as Managing Director of EnBW’s North American operation.

“For over a decade, Bill White has been among the most significant and impactful leaders in the advancement of offshore wind in the United States,” said Holger Grubel, EnBW’s Head of Portfolio Development, Offshore Wind Power Generation.

“We are delighted that Bill is joining our EnBW team to lead our efforts in North America.”

Most recently, White served as Senior Director of Offshore Wind Sector Development at the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, where he led Massachusetts’ efforts on the identification of offshore wind areas through collaborative stakeholder engagement, as well as transmission planning, environmental surveys, metocean data collection, supply chain, and workforce development initiatives related to offshore wind.

Additionally, White led the construction of the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal, the first facility in the United States designed for the staging, assembly and deployment of offshore wind projects.

“I’m honored to join EnBW’s talented team that built the first commercial offshore wind project in Germany and now has approximately 2 Gigawatts of offshore wind projects constructed, under construction, or contracted,” said White.

“I’m inspired by EnBW’s leadership in addressing climate change by investing over $5 billion by 2025 to advance renewable energy. And I’m impressed by EnBW’s commitment to work collaboratively with local communities and fishermen to bring clean and cost-effective energy to the United States.”

EnBW plans to set up an office in Jersey City, New Jersey, by the end of the year. The office will serve as a base the base for EnBW’s participation in offshore wind opportunities in New Jersey and New York.
