Epic Gas Orders Two LPG Carriers from Japan

Epic Gas Ltd. announced today that it has contracted to build two 11,000cbm fully-pressurised gas carriers.

The vessels will be built by Kyokuyo Shipyard Corporation in Japan and delivered in 2016.

“Our decision to move into the largest segment of the fully-pressurised fleet underlines our clear expectations of change and growth in the fully-pressurised LPG market.” states Chris Buttery, Chairman of the Board.

Lars Vang Christensen, CEO of Epic Gas, explains: “We are glad to have contracted these vessels with a well-established shipyard that is associated with high quality workmanship.” and he highlights “The schedule of delivery of these ships complements our fleet expansion strategy and our commitment to being market leaders in our sector.”

This latest order brings the total newbuild contracts for the year to eight fully-pressurised vessels. In addition Epic Gas has taken delivery of three bareboat vessels during the year. The company is also actively looking at opportunities to purchase high quality secondhand tonnage.
