Evergas names third multigas LNG carrier

Copenhagen-based Evergas informed that the dragon class 27,500 cbm multigas LNG carrier was named at the Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering shipyard in Qidong, China.

The vessel is the third in a series of eight multigas carriers and was named JS Ineos Intrepid, the company said.

In 2013, Evergas signed a 15-year shipping deal with Ineos for the transport of ethane from the United States Mariner East project. The deal was expanded in May last year to six vessels giving Ineos the option of transporting LNG, LPG as well as petrochemical gases including ethylene.

The dual-fuelled vessels will use LNG to power its engines and are 180 metres long and 26.6 metres wide with a draft of approximately 9 metres.
