ExxonMobil Presents Safety Awards to Its Employees and Contractors (Malaysia)

ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia Inc. (EMEPMI) recently presented awards to its employees and contractors in recognition of their safety excellence during 2012.

“Safety is a value that governs everything we do — from our planning and facility construction, to our drills and emergency response exercises, to the way we operate the business every day. Because we care, we accept no compromises in this area,” said ExxonMobil Subsidiaries in Malaysia Chairman J. Hunter Farris.

“The structure for safety we have instituted at ExxonMobil through our Operations Integrity Management System or OIMS, is aimed at making sure safe behaviours are internalised by every employee and contractor on our sites. OIMS today guides the activities of each of ExxonMobil’s almost 80,000 employees, as well as hundreds of thousands of third-party contractors around the world. Over time, this safety system has become embedded into everyday work processes at all levels,” he added as he congratulated employees and contractors and urged them to keep up their safety performance.

For employee safety awards, the prestigious Grand Award was presented to the Guntong D&E offshore workgroup and the Drilling office function which demonstrated excellent safety achievement including operating hurt-free for a whole year, without even a first aid. Three offshore workgroups which stayed hurt-free for a full year have been awarded Finalist Winners.

In the contractor category, a total of 49 companies were recognised for their safety achievements. Pioneer Engineering Sdn Bhd and Alfa-Meli Sdn Bhd received the Grand Award for staying hurt free while clocking more than 300,000 man-hours for a whole year.

Two contractor companies – Kencana HL Sdn Bhd and Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Sdn Bhd – received Special Mention awards for demonstrating exemplary Security, Safety, Health and Environment Leadership.

Ten contractor companies which clocked over 100,000 cumulative man-hour injury-free operations received Gold Awards. These contractors provided various drilling, logistics and manpower for EMEPMI’s offshore facilities.

Another 35 contractor companies received Recognition Awards for achieving injury-free operations below 100,000 man-hours.
