Falck Safety Services one of RoSPA’s 2015 Awards winners

Falck Safety Services (Falck), a safety training provider, has been named as one of the winners in the 2015 RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards.

Falck was presented the Gold Award by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) during a recent ceremony at the Glasgow Hilton Hotel. The award recognized Falck’s Safety Management System (SMS) and safety empowerment throughout the organisation.

Over the past year, the primary method of improving its safety performance, Falck says, has been through staff participation and implementing a strong safety culture throughout the company.

The safety training firm notes that it has encouraged staff to take ownership of safety in the workplace by incorporating safety practices into all UK staff’s personal development plans (PDP). Falck explains that these practices included attending HSE inspections, emergency response drills and safety committee meetings, as well as encouraging staff to undertake IOSH Working Safely or Managing Safely courses.

Colin Leyden, managing director of Falck Safety Services UK, said: “It is the first time Falck Safety Service UK has entered the RoSPA Awards and to achieve such a meaningful industry-recognised accolade at gold standard is exceptional; it truly reflects the idealisms and values of the company.”

“Safety is at the core of everything we do and by ensuring all our employees are safety-aware, it enables us to create a strong, safety culture for all our staff, delegates and clients. This award is another great achievement for us, and again, positions us as a leader in this field.”

David Rawlins, RoSPA’s awards manager, said: “The RoSPA Awards encourage improvement in occupational health and safety management. Organisations that gain recognition for their health and safety management systems, such as Falck, contribute to raising standards overall and we congratulate them.”

Falck’s RoSPA Award follows after the company achieved the IADC Safety Award at this year’s IADC North Sea Chapter Safety Awards and the ‘British Safety Councils’ five-star award for health and safety standards across all of its UK sites.

Falck adds that the RoSPA Awards, which date back 59 years, recognise commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill health prevention at work.
