Fincantieri Holds Coin Ceremony for MSC Cruises’ Ship
Geneva-based cruise giant MSC Cruises and Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri marked a key milestone in the building of MSC Seaview with a coin ceremony, held at Monfalcone shipyard in Italy today.
MSC Seaview, the third next-generation mega cruise ship that will come into service under MSC Cruises’ ten-year investment plan through 2026, will be deployed in the Western Mediterranean as of June 2018.
“MSC Seaview is one of the four MSC Cruises’ ships currently under construction, as part of an industry-unprecedented ten-year, EUR 9 billion investment plan,” Pierfrancesco Vago, MSC Cruises’ Executive Chairman, said.
Following its inaugural summer season, the 323-metre-long MSC Seaview will continue its deployment in Brazil as of November 2018.
Featuring 154,000 gross tonnes, the new ship will be capable of carrying up to 5,179 guests.
It will be the second of two sister vessels in the MSC Cruises’ Seaside generation to be built by Fincantieri.
MSC Seaview’s sister vessel MSC Seaside, scheduled to enter service in December 2017, will be christened in Miami, its future homeport, later this year.
