Kewatec AluBoat, Meritaito Develop New Equipment and Vessels

Kewatec AluBoat, a company from Kokkola, Finland, specialized in manufacturing of aluminium boats has made an agreement with the state-owned company Meritaito. The agreement concerns manufacturing of oil spill response equipment and vessels.

“The agreement puts together the experience and boat building knowledge of Kewatec with oil spill response equipment developed based on need studies done by Meritaito. It is important for us to work together with such a partner, which is ready to commit to long-lasting co-operation, as well as aiming for export of special knowledge”, says the Managing Director of Meritaito, Jari Partanen.

“Kewatec has already strong experience of engineering, manufacturing and selling aluminium vessels. The co-operation agreement is giving us a base for expanding our product range to oil spill response equipment, which easily can be mounted on all sizes of our work boats. During the negotiations, we found also common export visions. Therefore, making an agreement was a natural result”, continues the Managing Director of Kewatec, Karl-Erik Wargh.

The target with the co-operation is to develop new solutions for the market. The first ready product to sell (Mini Boat) will be displayed in February.
