Rolls-Royce has won a contract to install its efficient Promas Lite propulsion system on two vessels for ferry operator Finnlines.

Promas Lite is an integrated propeller and rudder system that increases efficiency and is designed specifically for retrofitting to existing ships.

These will be the fifth and sixth Finnlines vessels to feature Promas Lite, following a contract for four shipsets earlier this year.

Emanuele Grimaldi, President and CEO, Finnlines, said: “Environmental compliance and cost efficient operations are key factors in the success of Finnlines. The installation of the Promas Lite systems on our modern ro-ro vessels is a major step in the implementation of our strategy.”

We value the strong relationship that we hold with Finnlines, and they are a key component of our growing presence in the area.

“Not only will Finnlines achieve a reduction in fuel consumption, but we are also delighted to play a part in lowering their NOx emissions, creating a healthier and greener environment at sea.”
