Flotel Safe Boreas gains further extension

Repsol Sinopec Resources UK, formerly Talisman Sinopec Energy UK, has exercised options to further extend the charter of Prosafe’s flotel Safe Boreas by a total of 14 days.

The firm operational period of the Safe Boreas at Montrose A in the UK sector of the North Sea is now through February 10, 2017, Prosafe said on Monday.

The company is continuing with the reduced option periods’ day rate consistent with market conditions. Repsol Sinopec has the ability to extend the Safe Boreas further through weekly options.

The Safe Boreas started a 245-day firm operational period at Montrose A in mid-March 2016. Repsol Sinopec extended the charter in November by 44 days.

Prosafe’s 2015-built accommodation rig Safe Boreas is supporting the complex next four phases of the Montrose Area Redevelopment (MAR) project that sees the significant modification and expansion of the existing Montrose Area infrastructure including the development of three new fields: Godwin, Cayley and Shaw.

Safe Boreas was built at Jurong Shipyard in Singapore. It is constructed according to the GVA 3000E design and is equipped with a DP3 (dynamic positioning) system as well as 12 point mooring arrangement. This allows for operations in harsh environments both in DP and anchored mode. The unit has the capacity to accommodate 450 persons in single man cabins.
