FORESEA launches third call for ocean energy developers

The €11 million FORESEA program has opened its third call to support the commercialization of offshore renewable energy technologies.

FORESEA is an EU-funded project which helps bring offshore renewable energy technologies to market by offering free access to a world-leading network of test centers.

The call, opened on June 27, runs until September 27, 2017, and is meant for technologies ready to deploy and complete testing before 2019.

Nicolas Wallet, Program Manager at EMEC, said: “As well as continuing to support marine energy convertor technologies, the third FORESEA call will reach out to developers of products, services and key components that will enable the development of the ocean energy sector. We encourage the value chain to get involved, using their expertise to provide solutions that help de-risk the sector.”

The final granting of support is made upon signature of contract between the technology developer and the relevant test center.

The test facilities participating in the project are EMEC (Orkney Islands, UK); SmartBay (Galway, Ireland); SEM-REV (Nantes, France); and Tidal Testing Centre (Den Oever, Netherlands).

To date, the project has awarded 25 ‘recommendations for support’ to developers through two competitive calls for applications.
