Former EMGS CEO takes over at Gardline
Marine survey company Gardline has appointed a new chief executive officer (CEO).
Gardline said on Wednesday that Christiaan Vermeijden, former CEO of Norway’s EMGS, would replace Gardline’s current interim CEO Gerben Eggink, “effective immediately.”
Regarding his appointment, Vermeijden said: “I am honored to become the CEO of Gardline […]. I am looking forward to working with my new colleagues to make Gardline even more successful and realize its mission of empowering an energy industry in transition with marine surveying that is second-to-none.
“We’re seeing the green shoots of a recovery in offshore exploration and production, and consistent strong growth in offshore renewables. Our partners recognize that Gardline’s marine geophysical, geotechnical, and environmental surveys will be vital for them to succeed in a transforming energy sector.”
Vermeijden joins Gardline after leaving his position as CEO at Norway-based Electromagnetic Geoservices ASA (EMGS).
EMGS had announced in September 2018 that Vermeijden would leave the company for personal reasons, effective December 31, 2018.
Before his role with EMGS, Vermeijden was a part of the executive management team and global offshore geotechnical director at Fugro.
Gardline’s Interim CEO Eggink added: “On behalf of all our colleagues and Boskalis, I would like to extend a warm welcome to Christiaan and wish him success in his new position.
“With his impressive track record of technical understanding and managerial expertise, I am certain that he is well positioned to build further on the success and reputation of Gardline as we help enable the transformation that is happening in the offshore and subsea energy markets.”
Christiaan Vermeijden holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Physical Geography from the University of Amsterdam and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Rotterdam School of Management.
