Former JES CEO Disputes Resignation

Former director of Singapore-listed shipbuilder JES International Holdings Limited Jin Xin is disputing his resignation dating back to May, 2015 alleging that the announcement is erroneous.

The resignation was brought to question in a letter sent on Xin’s behalf by Colin Ng & Partners to JES, dated on July 2nd.

JES categorically denied the allegations, saying that it had received scanned copies of the resignation documents, including Xin’s resignation letter, as well his declaration in relation to the announcement to be released on SGXNet, each duly executed by Jin Xin who resigned on 25th of May, 2015.

However, the company did admit that the originals of the resignation documents had been placed in Ju Li Li’s custody, a former administrative assistant at one of the shipbuilder’s China-based subsidiaries, who has been sued by JES for the illegal possession of the company’s administration records, requesting their recovery.

JES added that a preliminary investigation has since been carried out by an independent investigation panel to verify the allegations, however; Xin “refused to cooperate with the panel and/or give his account of events and submit any relevant evidence” to the case when asked by the panel.

“In these present circumstances, until and unless the resignation documents are proved to be false and Mr Jin Xin’s signatures therein forged, the Board is of the view that the announcement is not erroneous,” JES said.

The shipbuilder, undergoing debt restructuring, said it has engaged legal counsel to respond to the allegations and would not hesitate to take all necessary action against Jin Xin, including legal proceedings.
