GTT, the French maker of LNG containment systems, signed a 5-year service deal with a unit of US energy giant Chevron to support the company’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipping operations.

Under the deal, the French company will support Chevron Transport Corporation’s maintenance and operation of 10 LNG carriers equipped with GTT’s Mark III and NO96 technologies.

These vessels are mostly transporting LNG from Chevron’s giant projects in Australia, namely Gorgon and Wheatstone.

This new agreement includes GTT on-site technical assistance for inspection, maintenance and repairs, and provision of TAMITM (thermal assessment of membrane integrity) tests, GTT said in a statement on Thursday.

GTT will also provide support in training and workshops for Chevron crews and superintendents, as well as access to the HEARS hotline.

HEARS is an emergency hotline which enables ship-owners and their crews to contact GTT’s experts 24 hours a day seven days a week to respond to operational queries, the statement reads.
