GALLERY: Blue Queen PSV reaches Dutch port ahead of conversion

The PX121 platform supply vessel Blue Queen has arrived to the Royal Niestern Sander shipyard in Delfzijl, the Netherlands.

Wagenborg said on Thursday that the Blue Queen would be converted to a so-called ‘Walk to Work Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel’ (W2W ERRV) in the upcoming ten weeks.

The vessel, once converted, will operate as a standby and support vessel for inspection and maintenance of unmanned platforms in Dutch and British waters.

To remind, Wagenborg was awarded a six-year contract in November by Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij (NAM) and Shell UK for the provision of a walk-to-work vessel for operations in the North Sea.

For the provision of the W2W ERRV vessel to NAM and Shell UK, Wagenborg signed an agreement with Ulstein for the delivery of a standard PX121 PSV. The Ulstein-owned Blue Queen was the vessel chosen for this contract.

Approximately 80 employees will be working on the conversion of the vessel which will be equipped with an additional accommodation module, motion compensated gangway, and a motion compensated crane.
