Gallery: Fincantieri Hands Over Seabourn Encore

Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri has held the handover ceremony of Seabourn Encore, the first of two ultra-luxury cruise ships ordered by US-based cruise line Seabourn, at the Marghera shipyard in Venice.

The new cruise ship features a length of 210 meters and a width of 28 meters and is able to accommodate 600 passengers, based on double occupancy.

Launched in March 2016, the 40,350 gross ton Seabourn Encore completed the final round of sea trials in the Adriatic Sea earlier this month.

The newbuilding will be officially christened at a ceremony in Singapore on January 7, 2017. The vessel will then depart on its inaugural voyage, bound for Indonesia, according to Seabourn.

The cruise vessel is part of Seabourn’s fleet modernization program which started in 2009.

“Seabourn Encore is a particularly innovative project, focused on energy optimisation and minimum environmental impact. The ship was built using the very latest technologies, whose standards exceed the requirements of the relevant regulation,” Fincantieri said.

Dry dock works for the second vessel, Seabourn Ovation, are expected to start in two days at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Sestri Ponente, the shipbuilder revealed.

Seabourn Ovation is scheduled to join the company’s fleet in 2018.
