Gallery: Fincantieri Lays Keel for Seabourn Ovation

Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri has held a keel laying ceremony for Seabourn Ovation, the second of two ultra-luxury ships ordered from US-based cruise line Seabourn, part of Carnival Corporation, at the Sestri Ponente shipyard in Genoa.

The steel cutting ceremony for the new vessel was held in June this year.

Seabourn Ovation is scheduled to join the company’s fleet in spring 2018.

It’s sister ship, Seabourn Encore, was handed over to Seabourn at Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard earlier this week.

The 40,350 gross ton Seabourn Ovation will feature a length of 210 meters and a width of 28 meters. It will be able to accommodate 600 passengers.

“Seabourn Ovation, as its sister ship, is a particularly innovative project, focused on energy optimisation and minimum environmental impact. The ship will be built using the very latest technologies, whose standards exceed the requirements of the relevant regulation,” the shipbuilder said.
