Gallery: Singapore’s PPT 5 from a Drone’s Perspective

The images above show Singapore’s Pasir Panjang Terminal (PPT) 5 from a drone’s perspective and were captured by PSA Singapore and PSA Marine last week. 

The Pasir Panjang Terminal 5 encompasses an area of 110 hectares and has 22 quay cranes.

With a depth of 18 meters and a quay length of 1,850 meters, the terminal has five container berths.

In 2004, PSA Singapore Terminals decided to expand its Pasir Panjang Terminal by investing SGD 3.5 billion (USD 2.5 billion) in infrastructure and the latest port technology. The investment is aimed at increasing PSA’s total port capacity by about 50 percent to 50 million TEUs.

The Phases 3 and 4 of the terminal expansion were officially opened in June 2015.

The expansion is expected to add 15 million TEUs to Singapore’s handling capacity. The project includes the already operational Pasir Panjang Terminal 5 and two future terminals that will become operational by the end of 2017.

Once fully operational, the new terminals will be able to serve the next generation of container ships, increase productivity and promote environmental sustainability in port operations, according to PSA Singapore.
