Gazprom’s gas exports to Europe drop

Russian giant Gazprom saw its natural gas export to Europe drop between January 1 and March 15, compared to the corresponding period last year.

According to Gazprom data, it delivered 40.8 billion cubic meters of gas within the first two and a half months of the year which is 8.2 percent less than between January 1 and March 15 of the record year of 2018.

It is worth noting that both daily and monthly supply records were also set in March last year.

Gazprom said that warm weather in Europe continued to have an impact on the export volumes this year.

Nevertheless, a number of countries are showing a greater demand for Gazprom’s gas. Namely, the company saw an increase in exports to Austria (24.1 percent up), to the Czech Republic (64.9 percent up), to Italy (8.4 percent up), to Hungary (12.6 percent up), to Slovakia (8 percent up), and France (2.4 percent up).

As for production figures, from January 1 to March 15, 2019, Gazprom produced an estimated 112.8 billion cubic meters of gas, an increase of 2.6 percent or 2.9 billion cubic meters against the same period of 2018.

The demand for natural gas from the national gas transmission system dropped by 3.6 percent or 2.8 billion cubic meters in the domestic market.
