GDF Suez Names Executive VP of Global Gas & LNG (France)

Pierre Clavel, member of the Executive Committee of GDF SUEZ, has been appointed Executive Vice President Global Gas & LNG, in charge of Business Development.

He will also assist Gérard Mestrallet and Jean-Marie Dauger, respectively Chairman & CEO and Executive Vice President of GDF SUEZ, in coordinating the partnership with Chinese sovereign wealth fund China Investment Corporation (CIC).

A graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique and the Ecole des Mines de Paris, Pierre Clavel started his career in the engineering of gas facilities and thermal power plants successively at SOFREGAZ, MEGAL GmbH, Gaz de France and Electricité de France (EDF), where he held different technical and managerial positions, mainly in the management of large international projects. In 1997, he was appointed Managing Director at the Gaz de France Transmission Division, in charge of expertise and services, then, in 1999, Managing Director at EDF-GDF Services where he was in charge of electricity and gas distribution units in the centre of France. Three years later, he became in charge of gas supplies for the Gaz de Grance Group before being appointed Director at the Gas Supply, Trading & Marketing Division. In 2004, he was appointed Member of the Gaz de France Executive Committee, in charge of the International Business Line.

In 2008, he became Member of the GDF SUEZ Executive Committee in charge of the Energy Europe Division up to 2009, then Deputy CEO of GDF SUEZ Energy Europe & International Business Line.
