Germany: Demag Cranes Unveils Gottwald Model 2 Harbour Crane

Gottwald Port Technology GmbH, member of the stock-exchange listed Demag Cranes Group, has expanded the scope of its products with the launching of Model 2 Harbour Crane.

With the latest addition to its fleet the company is plunging into the market of smaller terminals, since Model 2 Harbour Crane is envisaged for smaller cargo handling.

In terms of specifications, the crane has the maximum lifting capacity of 80 tons, covering an area of up to 40 meters with an ability of developing hoisting speeds of up to 120 meters per minute.

According to the Head of Port and Intermodal Cranes at Demag Cranes, Giuseppe Di Lisa, the Model 2 fully meets the demand for a versatile handling machine, constructed especially for smaller maritime and river ports.

The Model 2 is accompanied by the launch of a new crane type, which has been introduced to the market namely the G HRK Rubber Tyred Portal Harbour Crane. As stated by the company, the new model combines the mobility of its rubber tyred G HMK Mobile Harbour Crane with the benefits associated with a drive under portal solution, such as the G HSK Portal Harbour Crane.

Moreover, driven by the tremendous increase in container and bulk transport followed by the growing need for faster cargo handling and significantly improved use of space, the company has been experimenting with the varieties of functions their cranes can take up. Therefore, the newly unveiled models have been given different shapes such as: Model 2 as a Floating Crane, G HPK Harbour Pontoon Crane, as a G HSK Portal Harbour Crane on a barge, with individually tailored barges, or as a fixed G HPK Pedestal Mounted Harbour Crane.

The company has been acknowledged for its innovative container handling solutions, particularly when it comes to its automation.

The range of its products currently includes Mobile Harbour Cranes and such derivatives as Portal Harbour Cranes and Floating Cranes, Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) for horizontal container transport, Automated Stacking Cranes (ASCs) and Wide Span Gantries (WSGs).
