Gondan Shipyard launches new PSV (Gallery)

A new platform supply vessel (PSV) was launched on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Gondan Shipyard in Figueras, Spain, for the Norwegian shipowner Simon Møkster Shipping.

The new PSV, of UT 776 Wave Piercing Rolls Royce design, is 92 m long and 20 m wide. The vessel will be built based on the same Rolls Royce Marine design used for “Stril Luna” and delivered to Simon Møkster Shipping last year. However, it will be upgraded with FiFi II System with monitors installed at the stern, which will, according to the company, enable much safer and more efficient FiFi operation in offshore facilities.

In addition, the new unit will have a higher De-Icing class notation.

This PSV will also be equipped with Rolls Royce Marine’s “Unified Bridge”. The delivery is scheduled for early next year.

The launch ceremony was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Simon Møkster CEO Anne Jorunn Møkster accompanied by other members of the Management.

This PSV is the third vessel built by Gondan Shipyard for the Norwegian shipowner.

According to Alvaro Platero, the Director of the Shipyard, this construction shows “the Shipyard’s technical capability of being eligible for building ships of extreme complexity”.
