Grup TCB to Buy Terminal Polivalente de Castellón

Spanish port operator Grup TCB has acquired Terminal Polivalente de Castellón (TPC) located near the city of Valencia on the Mediterranean coast.

TPC manages about 80% of TEUs handled at the Castellon port, and will complement the Grup TCB’s existing terminals at the ports of Barcelona (TCB) and Valencia (TCV).

The terminal has 970 meters of berthing line, with a maximum draught of 14 meters, allowing it to perform 162,000 movements in 2014, 5% more than the previous year. .

The Port of Castellon’ top three trading partners based on the tonnage moved are Russia, Angola and Turkey.

Xavier Soucheiron, the CEO of Grup TCB, said: “With terminals in Barcelona, ​​Castellon and Valencia and a commitment to intermodal transportation of goods by rail, we are able to offer import and export companies a global high quality logistics service to the whole southern European and Mediterranean markets. Our terminals also serve as connection hubs with Africa, the Gulf of Arabia and Asia.”

The transaction is pending approval by the relevant authorities, and is expected within the next few weeks.
