Guardian Geomatics inks survey services deal with Ocean Infinity

Houston-based seabed intelligence provider Ocean Infinity has awarded a contract for the provision of survey services to Australia-based Guardian Geomatics.

Guardian Geomatics said on Monday that it would provide management, field personnel, QC, processing, and deliverable reporting of data acquired by the fleet of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV) operated from the Island Pride vessel.

The AUVs are fitted with the Kraken synthetic aperture sonars. Using Subsea-cloud, data will be maintained on a secure cloud throughout the project lifecycle, with processing personnel operating as a virtual team from the office, vessel or home, working as and when required to produce final deliverables.

Ocean Infinity CEO, Oliver Plunkett, said: “The existing partnership between Guardian Geomatics and Ocean Infinity is further enhanced by this agreement. We selected the team from Guardian Geomatics specifically for their technical knowledge, management experience, and proven capability to deliver large scale projects.”

According to the company, the Island Pride is currently being mobilized in Tampa, Florida. Sea trials of new capabilities are set for the first quarter of 2019.

The 2014-built subsea construction vessel, owned by Island Offshore, is under a seven-year charter with Ocean Infinity. It is a multi-functional subsea support and construction vessel of UT 737 design with 103 meters in length, a beam of 21 meters and free deck space of 880m2. The vessel is equipped with deep water crane and two work-class ROVs.

In related news, Ocean Infinity entered into a contract with Solstad Offshore for the use of one of its construction support vessels (CSVs). Ocean infinity will utilize the vessel on its world-wide seabed mapping and survey services.
