Hantong Ship Heavy to build first CNG carrier

Hantong Ship Heavy signed a shipbuilding contract with Cimc Enric SJZ Gas to build the world’s first CNG carrier.

The vessel will be operated by Perusahaan Listrik Negara, Indonesian national electric company, and used for natural gas transportation between the islands of Indonesia.

The vessel is designed by Cimc Oric, will be powered by natural gas, driven by dual fuel main engine, with 110-meter length over all and 14-knots design speed. It will be classed by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia.

It is expected to be delivered in May 2016.
