Hapag-Lloyd Boosts Europe Australia Express Service

German liner company Hapag-Lloyd announced that it is adding French ports Fos sur Mer and Pointe de Galets to improve its Europe Australia Express service (EAX).

The ports will be added to the EAX rotation on the southbound leg as of December.

Hapag-Lloyd also said that the Italian call on the northbound leg will be switched from Genoa to Salerno.

With this move the company expects to “improve direct port coverage in Southern Italy while at the same time maintaining good coverage of Northern Italy via other Hapag-Lloyd services and a good train connection.

“South Italian customers will also benefit from a direct export service to Northern Europe.”

The transit times of 30 to 36 days from Northern Europe to Australia are expected to remain unchanged, the company said.

The new port rotation will be as follows: Tilbury – Hamburg – Rotterdam – Le Havre – Fos – Genoa – Damietta – (Suez Passage) – Pointe de Galets – Fremantle – Melbourne – Sydney – Adelaide – Singapore – Pt. Kelang – Chennai – Colombo – Cochin – (Suez Passage) – Damietta – Malta – Salerno – Tilbury.
