Havyard Ship Technology Gets New Boss

Havyard Group ASA has appointed Lasse Stokkeland as head of the business area Ship Technology. Kenneth Pettersen will continue as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Havyard Group ASA.

Kenneth Pettersen has over a period, in addition to his role as COO of Havyard Group ASA, headed the business area Havyard Ship Technology AS. This was planned to be temporary until a new manager for the business area was in place. Lasse Stokkeland was appointed Project Director at Havyard Ship Technology in the autumn of 2014 with the intention that he also should take over as head of the business area after a period of time.

“Lasse has during this period proven that he is the right candidate for this important role in Havyard, and we are very pleased to have Lasse on the team,” Kenneth Pettersen comments.

Lasse Stokkeland will be responsible for the shipbuilding activity in Havyard Group. Havyard Ship Technology consists of the shipyard in Leirvik in Sogn, project and after marketing in Fosnavaag, plus branch offices in Turkey and Poland.

Lasse Stokkeland came to Havyard from the position as Technical Director of Havfisk ASA where he was responsible for the technical operation and maintenance of 12 trawlers. Before this Stokkeland was project manager in Havfisk ASA and was responsible for supervising the construction of three of the trawlers that were built by Vard. Stokkeland also has extensive experience from shipbuilding, including when he was project manager at Havyard Ship Technology in Leirvik from 2009 to 2011.

“My main task in Havyard will be to ensure that everyone in our organization deliver what is expected of them,” says Stokkeland. “This gives us better control, efficiency and we deliver the agreed quality to our customers. I’m going to look at all stages of our value chain and ensure that the focus is on value-added activities.”

“From my time in Havyard I know that we have the expertise and capacity to compete with the best and deliver top products for demanding customers. My task will be to make sure to streamline the organization and bring the best out of everyone, so that we implement what we have taken on and secure new orders in a challenging market,” says Lasse Stokkeland.

As COO and deputy for the CEO of Havyard Group ASA Kenneth Pettersen focus will be on further growth and development of the Group.

“I’m going to focus on the development of skills and methodology in project implementation and lean manufacturing, says Pettersen. – Havyard Group ASA is a group that has control and can provide products and services in a large part of the value chain and it is important that we have good expertise and methodology and not least that we ensure good coordination across departments and business areas in the group. The goal of everything we do is that we shall deliver the agreed quality, on time and on budget. Lasse’s knowledge and experience will be taking us further toward that goal,” says COO Pettersen.
