OneSubsea, a Schlumberger company, is said to be considering to close up shop in Leeds next year which could lead to loss of up to 600 jobs.

The company that has over 900 employees at its base in Stourton, Leeds, said its order intake was significantly impacted by the downturn in the oil and gas industry leaving a good deal of its plants “underutilised”.

 


ithaca-hires-dof-subsea-for-athena-decommissioning-job

DOF Subsea has been awarded a contract by Ithaca Energy for phase 1 of the decommissioning of the Athena field in the UK North Sea.

The work scope includes removing the subsea water column infrastructure that has been used on the field. The contract involves the removal of mid-water arch and risers, and secures utilisation of several DOF Subsea vessels, capable of undertaking both moorings and construction work, operating in the Atlantic region during Q4 2016.

Huisman, the specialist in lifting, drilling, and subsea solutions, welcomed the pipe lay support vessel (PLSV) ‘Skandi Buzios’ at the its Schiedam quayside for the installation of a 650mt pipelay tower.

Scaldis’ heavy lift vessel, Rambiz, has earlier this week installed the pipelay tower onboard the PLSV. Huisman said the vessel will be fully commissioned in the next months before it leaves its Schiedam quayside for its first job.


schlumberger-helix-alliance-starts-riserless-abandonment-system-development

The Subsea Services Alliance, a contractual collaboration between Helix Energy Solutions Group and Schlumberger, has launched the development of the first Riserless Open-water Abandonment Module (ROAM).

The 18¾-in. large bore system will enhance well abandonment capacity from a well intervention vessel by allowing tubing to be pulled in open water in a safe and environmentally contained manner, Schlumberger explained.

Oceaneering Internationa is expanding its presence for autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) survey services to the West African region.

Oceaneering currently serves the U.S Gulf of Mexico with a fleet of commercial AUVs, designed for survey operations in water depths reaching 4,500 meters.
