layoffsThe Houston-based oilfield services major, Schlumberger, said it will further reduce its workforce in light of expected reduced activity for 2016.

As a result, Schlumberger currently expects to record a pre-tax restructuring charge in the fourth quarter of 2015 that is estimated to be approximately $350 million.

Subsea 7 has awarded a contract to Hydratight to supply pipeline connector solution for their Emergency Pipeline Repair System (EPRS) project in Australia.

The repair system is part of the contingency planning for multiple pipelines associated with Chevron Australia’s liquefied natural gas assets and INPEX’s Ichthys LNG Project off the northwest coast of Australia.

 


ROVOP Grabs GBP 3M in New Contracts

ROVOP has secured GBP 3 million (USD 4.5 million) worth of new contracts across the oil and gas, offshore wind and power transmission sectors.

This work, awarded during November, with four new clients is based in multiple geographic locations in the North Sea, Mediterranean and West Africa and includes survey, plough support, unexploded ordnance (UXO) survey, cable repair and construction.


PHOTO Jan De Nul Takes Delivery of Isaac Newton

Offshore contractor Jan De Nul has taken delivery of its multipurpose vessel “Isaac Newton”.

The delivery of the vessel, launched in March this year, took place at Croatian shipyard Uljanik on November 27, 2015. The vessel is 138 meters long and 32 meters wide, with deadweight of 13,436 tonnes and is equipped for installing subsea cables, trench dredging and subsea rock installation.

Harkand and its local consortium partner TOS Angola Lda has secured a three-year contract to deliver inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) services in Angola for an undisclosed oil company operating in the West Africa region.

The recently upgraded multi-purpose dive support vessel (DSV) Swordfish has been mobilised to support the project and provide air, surface gas and saturation diving services for the work in Cabinda, Angola.
