HMD Bags Two LPG Carriers

South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) has won a deal to build two semi-refrigerated vessels for Nasdaq-listed StealthGas Inc.

The contract, announced today on the Korea Exchange, is for the construction of two 22,000-cbm ships and is estimated to be worth around $105 million.

Delivery of the two newbuilds is slated for early 2017.

StealthGas Inc. currently has a fleet of 39 LPG carriers with a total capacity of 189,559 cubic meters (cbm), three M.R. product tankers and one Aframax oil tanker with a total capacity of 255,804 dwt. The company will acquire 17 more LPG carriers  by the end of 2015.
