How can digitalization transform your asset information lifecycle?
The asset information lifecycle, from feasibility stage through end of life, currently suffers from disparity of information formats according to DNV GL, the technical advisor to the oil and gas industry.
There is no single source of essential asset information among owners, operators, designers, yards and manufacturers. This, in turn, leads to cost, quality and safety issues both in engineering as well as during operations and asset modifications. DNV GL is tackling these challenges together with Siemens.
“DNV GL’s deep technical expertise is involved in all stages of the asset lifecycle, supporting customers in optimizing their performance, and ensuring safe and reliable operations,” said Elisabeth Tørstad, CEO of DNV GL – Oil & Gas.
“By working with Siemens and its software, our customers will be able to save time in reviewing critical asset lifecycle information and work more collaboratively with industry partners. Users will have access to an online, self-service portal that offers automated compliance-checking, benchmarking and data mining capabilities.”
The collaboration between Siemens and DNV GL will support the oil and gas industry’s increasing focus on its digital transformation. Research conducted by DNV GL reveals that nearly half (49 percent) of senior oil and gas, executives believe digitalization is necessary to boost profitability. Thirty-nine percent believe spending on digitalization will increase in 2017.
“With the rise of digitalization, improved collaboration will enable the industry to transform to meet the demands of the new era and become profitable,” said Joe Bohman, Senior Vice President of Lifecycle Collaboration Software for Siemens PLM Software. “Solutions that allow users to master new challenges collaboratively and therefore quickly and simply will help companies meet future needs.”
Deep dive into digitalization
The Offshore Energy Exhibition & Conference 2017 features a program on digitalization, organised in cooperation with DNV GL. The program is designed to show how a solid digitalization strategy can maximize benefits and minimize risk for you and your company. Harnessing data, data management and creating value from date will be part of the program.
Non-technical challenges of digitalization will be explored and discussed as well: How to get people, work processes and culture to catch up with technological possibilities. Join the discussion on Community Square on Offshore Energy’s exhibition floor. Click here to register your visit: www.offshore-energy.biz.
OEEC is one of Europe’s leading offshore energy events. It is unique in bringing together the oil & gas, offshore wind and marine energy industry. With the industry in transition, OEEC offers offshore energy professionals the ideal meeting place to network, discuss and learn about the future of energy. OEEC 2017 will be held at Amsterdam RAI on October 9, 10, 11, 2017.
