Expansion planned at Estonia’s Muuga terminal

State-owned Port of Tallinn and KMG Inseneriehituse have signed a contract for the extension of the Muuga Container Terminal in Estonia.

According to local press reports, Phase One of the eastern part of the project will cover 27 hectares and includes building a 500m quay for container vessels that would allow the port to handle up to 500,000 TEUs.

The contract includes about 575,000m3 of dredging work.

The work is scheduled to be completed in 18 months.

KMG Inseneriehituse is a subsidiary of KMG Ehitus and won the bid in co-operation with two Danish companies, Per Aarsleff and Rohde Nielsen.
