Dual boost for Oseberg output

StatoilHydro is pushing ahead with the development of the Oseberg area in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea and Oseberg Delta and Theta Cook have now come onstream. The Oseberg D platform receives the well stream from Oseberg Delta, whereas Theta Cook is drilled from Oseberg C. “These satellites are an important part of the further development of the Oseberg area and will contribute significantly to the production in the next few years,” says Morten Mikkelsen, acting head of Oseberg production. Oseberg Delta came on stream on Friday 27 June, while production from Theta Cook started on 26 June. In combination they will produce some 18,000 boe/d. When well number two on Oseberg Delta comes on line in the autumn, another 7,000 boe/d will be added. Another deposit in the Oseberg area, Oseberg Gamma Main Statfjord, came on stream recently. In combination this adds more than 35,000 b/d of oil to the Oseberg area, which contributes significantly towards StatoilHydro’s production target.
