Port Canaveral to get $10.2 million in stimulus money

Port Canaveral will get $10.2 million in economic stimulus money to dredge and maintain its federal channels, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced Wednesday. But that falls well short of what port officials had hoped for — and what they say is needed to stimulate new jobs. “There are some other projects here that we felt should have been included in the stimulus,” said J. Stanley Payne, chief executive officer of Canaveral Port Authority. “I am quite disappointed.”
