Shipping firm closer to moving to Jersey

A beleaguered Brooklyn containerport company sent packing by the city could end up in a spanking-new $200 million facility in New Jersey, the Daily News has learned.
Red Hook-based American Stevedoring inked a deal in February with Mediterranean Shipping Inc. – the world’s second-largest shipping corporation – to operate a new port in Newark. “At that point, we would be a company that’s wholly operational in New Jersey,” said Chris Ward, CEO of American Stevedoring.
