Nigeria : Vessel transporting stolen crude oil arrested

A VESSEL with about 30 metric tonnes of condensate has been arrested by the Nigerian Navy along the Imo River in Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom State. Disclosing this to The Guardian in Calabar in an exclusive interview yesterday, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral Sunday Baje, said the barge was arrested on May 25 at Ikot Abasi as it attempted to escape with the oil. He noted that though the owners of the barge abandoned it and fled, the Navy could identify them and they would soon be brought to book.
