GP lowered on to storm-lashed ship to treat injured man

A doctor yesterday described how she was given a baptism of fire by being lowered from a helicopter on to a tanker in horrendous weather conditions to treat a badly injured crewman.
Christine Bradshaw, 48, is a locum GP with a relatively peaceful patch on the Orkney island of Hoy. But she had no hesitation when called into action after the FR8 Venture had been hit by a freak 100ft wave in the Pentland Firth.
